Nippon Express Company, Ltd. was founded in 1872 under the name of Riku-un Moto Kaisha and in 1937 was re-established as a semi-governmental transportation company.

In 1950, Nippon Express decided to be no longer a government enterprise and became a private company.


Thus, for over a century, Nippon Express as a leader of the Japanese transport industry, has played a vital role in the economic development and improved people’s quality of life. In order to meet the increasing demand on the international transport of Japanese companies, Nippon Express created its own global network in 1958, opening the first representative office in New York.

In 1988, Nippon Express de España, S.A. was created, establishing its headquarters in Madrid and a Delegation in Barcelona.


Throughout this period, several offices have been opened in Spain to provide national coverage to the entire logistics market. Currently Nippon Express de España, S.A. has offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao.


In 2000, Nippon Express de España, S.A. created Nippon Express Portugal with offices in Lisbon and Oporto.
